Millie Brother is credited with coining the term upon the founding of the organization CODA, which serves as a resource and a center of community for adult sons and daughters of deaf adults. CODA is an international non-profit organization where many CODAs are bilingual, speaking a language orally and also signing. They are also bicultural, identifying with both deaf and hearing cultures. CODA � Children of Deaf Adults � began in 1983 and has grown to include families of many generations and nationalities.
