Description
I love the quaint feel of village shoppes - especially those small mom-and-pop-owned stores in small out-of-the-way places where flowers line the streets and the local transportation is a bicycle! I love spending the day enjoying the countryside, gardenscapes, the restaurants, the shoppes - but most of all, the people.
This painting was done with palette knife, a technique where the colors are laid on layer by layer. It is called "impasto," which is the Italian name for this style of painting. Impasto paintings have incredible depth and dimension - in this painting, the viewer might feel he can all but jump into the street, grab the bicycle, and ride away!
