Description
If you are an Auburn fan, you remember rolling the massive more-than-80-year-old oaks at Toomer's Corner to celebrate a Tiger victory. I just completed painting this commissioned piece for a private art collection in Auburn, AL. You may also remember when someone poisoned the historic, iconic, and much loved trees at Toomer's Corner after an AU victory in the Iron Bowl. The result was tragic; the trees died. This is my impressionistic rendering of the trees during better days. Seeing the leaves and the depth of the foliage makes me happy as it reminds me of growth and strength - the kind from which pride flows naturally.
.....................................................................................................................
In April of 2013, Auburn students and supporters rolled the original oaks one last time to say goodbye. Then the trees were cut down, to be replaced with new oaks. This painting is a perfect way to remember the original oaks that stood at the gates. It is available as a giclee on canvas, a print, phone cover, a card, a pillow and more. Toomer's Corner.
