Description
A cross erected to reflect the light of the moon on the sandy beach as the sun sets. Give it as a gift to a minister, pastor, or other person of faith. Buy it for the vestibule at your church or a pastor's gift. Buy it for your home. Mixed media: oil and acrylic.
......
Would be beautiful in any room of the house: living room, den, kitchen, bedroom, family room, bathroom, office, or study. Or hang it at your lake house, lodge, cottage, or beach house. Christian employer? Hang this in your office as a testimony of your faith.
..........
This painting was created using oil for the sky to give it depth and dimension. The waves were painted with acrylic, using a broad brush stroke. The sandy dune was created with palette knife, layering on the different colors of paint one at a time and waiting for each layer to dry before adding the next one. The vegetation was added with a small brush. These strategies and techniques were chosen to match the source - the sky is deep and wide and has depth like the oil paint, the water has waves that lift and float like the brush strokes, and the dune was built by wind that layered on the sand whisked into place by the evening breeze.
.........
To me, the cross celebrates Christ's victory over death. He isn't on the cross anymore. He is as free as the water the cross overlooks, sitting at the right hand of the Father.
............
This cross is real. It actually sits on a beach in Pensacola - a lighthouse of a different sort. The cross is old. The message transcends time.
