Waiting for Summer - Impressionism

Medium
Painting - Mixed Media -impressionistic View Of Summer
Description
A bevvy of bold, bright colors, this painting has the intensity of a hot summer day. Yet the dress appears cool - light cotton that breathes with the season. Pink, yellow, teal, blue, burgundy, lime green, purple and lavender - warm colors aligned with bright ones, competition for the very sun itself. Move over clouds, the sun is here.
...................................................................................................................... Imagine the first day of summer. Crisp clouds line up to take a back seat to the sun that is at full strength after its somewhat limited role in winter's weather. The dress is alive with movement. Perhaps its owner is preparing for a garden party where the wind will gently whip its skirt and play skillfully with the bow.
.................................................................................................................... Hung on an antique iron mannequin, the yellow dress is reminiscent of days gone by, a time with ladies wore a dress to the beach and it was scandalous that her shoulders weren't covered! In another generation, even this dress would have been scandalous! Perhaps I shall raise my skirt just enough to show my knee ...
..................................................................................................................... Created with palette knife, the painting has depth, texture, and dimension that add to the fun. It is impressionistic, meaning it is a thought, an idea, or an "impression" of what the artist thinks the image of summer might be.
This image is available from Fine Art America, who ships within three days of payment for the order.
..................................................................................................................... And with these words of parting, I bid you adieu. Garden party, anyone? The sun is out and I can feel a soft breeze ...
