Description
American Sign Language is its own language: it has its own syntax and colloquialisms. When a person wants to ask a friend "What's up," meaning "How are things with you" or "How are things going," there is a casual conversational way to do this. "What's up" is made with one movement of both hands. The long fingers of both hands almost touch the chest and then break away from each other, moving in opposite directions and slightly outward from the body. It's like an imaginary seal is broken on stored information and it is free to dissimulate through the air.
...................................................................................................................
Add to that a questioning look on the face, and we've got the perfect way to ask how someone is doing: What's up?
.................................................................................................................... This piece is a digital painting that is designed on a bright yellow background. The hands were painstakingly filled with patches of bright color, (it took hours and hours, each new color added one at a time), making the painting one that is happy and free.
...................................................................................................................
Hang this piece of art in a place where you pass it often throughout the day. Then each time you see it, you can answer the question to yourself, "I'm just fine!" What a great pick-me-up for home, classroom, or office!
