Much of this Impressionist painting was created using an impasto technique where color was laid on with a palette knife. The effect is somewhat three-dimensional, adding depth and texture. The boat was painted with a brush, the strokes adding smoothness to the lines and contour of the curving shape. All in all, the composition and colors of the piece complement one another, culminating in a lovely and serene scene.
